Dear colleague,
the Organizing Committee of the 9th Congress of the Croatian Neurosurgical Society and Joint Meetings with the Czech Neurosurgical Society and Swiss Society of Neurosurgery has in the past weeks been closely monitoring the development of the COVID-19 outbreak in Croatia and whole of Europe, hoping for a favorable course of events that would make holding the Congress in September 2020 plausible. Unfortunately, although the epidemiological situation throughout Europe is ameliorating, and more and more countries are preparing to open borders, projections of the epidemiological status and traveling policy in the months to come are impossible to be made.
Guided by the wish for an unburdened and fruitful meeting, free from social restrictions and available to all attendees and invited speakers, the Organizing Committee has decided to postpone the Congress for spring 2021, while striving to keep as much as possible of already planned parameters of the Congress unchanged.
The new dates of the 9th Congress of the Croatian Neurosurgical Society and Joint Meetings with the Czech Neurosurgical Society and Swiss Society of Neurosurgery together with the Croatian – Japanese Special CSF Symposium and Neurosurgical Nursing Symposium are set for 27th – 29th May 2021, with the venue unchanged – the town of Vodice near Šibenik, on the beautiful Croatian Adriatic coast.
We kindly ask you to save the dates 27th – 29th May 2021 for our Congress, and honor us with your presence and contribution to this, what we believe to remain, wonderful meeting in spite of this new globally unprecedented scenario.
We wish you to stay in good health,
With kind regards
Professor Miroslav Vukić

Dear colleagues, dear friends,
On behalf of the Managing Board of the Croatian Neurosurgical Society as well as of the Organizing Committee, I have the honor and pleasure of inviting you to the 9th Congress of the Croatian Neurosurgical Society and Joint Meetings with the Czech Neurosurgical Society and Swiss Society of Neurosurgery, and a very special symposium on CSF physiology organized in collaboration with the Japan Neurosurgical Society and Medical School of the University of Zagreb and Neurosugical Nursing Symposium.
This exceptional gathering will take place in Vodice near Šibenik, at the midpoint of the Croatian Adriatic coast, from the 27th to the 29th May 2021. From its inception almost a quarter of a century ago, the Congress of the Croatian Neurosurgical Society has outgrown its’ initial scope of a national neurosurgical specialists’ meeting to grow to a regional melting pot of exchange of knowledge, experience and up-to-date management strategies in the different fields of the noble art of neurosurgery. We will once again bring together prominent Croatian and European neurosurgeons, as well as distinguished guests and speakers from all over the world to provide the attendants a spectacular environment for professional formation and social interaction.
The 9th Congress promises to be the most attended yet, since we proudly host Joint Meetings with two fellow continental
Neurosurgical Societies – the Czech Neurosurgical Society and Swiss Society of Neurosurgery, but also co-organize a spectacular Symposium on cerebrospinal fluid physiology and pathophysiology with eminent guests from the Japan Neurosurgical Society.
We invite you to take an active part in the scientific program of this remarkable Congress, but also to fully enjoy the social activities that we have in preparation for you.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Vodice!
Professor Miroslav Vukić, MD, PhD
Organizing Committee President
President of the Croatian Neurosurgical Society
Dear colleagues and friends!
It is a privilege and a pleasure to do neurosurgery. But it is equally exciting to share knowledge and experiences from your own practice with colleagues and friends. I would like to thank Professor Vukic for this wonderful idea of organizing the Croatian-Swiss-Czech Neurosurgical Congress. Croatia, Switzerland and the Czech Republic have no common borders. But it can easily be overcome: our neurosurgery has no limits! A generation of us, like the people who organize this event, is very lucky. Thanks to EANS, the Training Committee and specially designated people, there is a whole friendship in all of us throughout Europe. I would like to see this event attended by many young generations of neurosurgeons, perhaps not just from the three organizing societies, who will share their knowledge, thoughts and ideas and establish a new partnership or even friendship. And this is good for us, this is good for neurosurgery and ultimately good for our patients.
Croatia is a beautiful place to start the tradition of this congress model. It has everything we need. I welcome you as one of the organizers and wish you an unforgettable stay in Vodice 2021.
Yours,
Professor Martin Smrčka, MD, PhD
President of the Czech Neurosurgical Society, Czech
Medical Association, JEP
Dear colleagues, dear friends,
It is my honour and pleasure to invite you to the upcoming meeting of the Croatian, Japanese, Czech and Swiss Society of Neurosurgery. Hosted by the Croatian Society, the meeting will bring leading experts together who share the interest to deliver cutting edge scientific content, education, lively discussions, but also meeting or making friends and connecting our national societies.
The main topics of the meeting include Neurooncology, Skull Base, Vascular Neurosurgery, Spine, Pediatric Neurosurgery, Neurotrauma, Functional Neurosurgery, Epilepsy surgery, Stereotactic Neurosurgery and Radiosurgery with their open questions but also established evidence of knowledge and management. I personally consider a meeting or congress, where questions can be discussed openly and in a friendly atmosphere more effective and educating than trying to keep up with the information overload in our electronic or paper media. So take you chance and join these presentations and discussions. The Swiss society of Neurosurgery is proud to be part of the Croatian Neurosurgical Society Joint Meeting. The multinational spirit of the congress reflects our European and international networking within our neurosurgical specialty and represents an excellent example on how crossing borders helps us learning from each other and getting better.
Please save the dates from May 27th – 29th, 2021, come to Vodice, and consider taking a few extra days of vacation in the company of your family to enjoy Croatia!
Best regards.
